In his energy practice, Thomas has successfully represented plaintiffs seeking to enforce leases, drilling, service, and other types of contracts and related agreements. He has also defended numerous energy-related suits, including disputes involving breach of contract, property damage, contamination, land loss, subsidence, restoration, purchase and sale of minerals, working interest owner disputes, and other claims with respect to oil and gas operations.
In addition to his energy work, Thomas has developed a strong insurance and indemnity practice and advises policyholders on a broad range of insurance coverage matters: from the initial acquisition of policies, through the claims process, and, if necessary, in litigation. Thomas has developed a focus on the prosecution of insurance recovery claims for clients to obtain coverage under various types of insurance policies, such as commercial general liability and pollution liability policies.
Thomas has also represented a broad range of clients in other complex litigation matters, including representing both plaintiffs and defendants in significant personal injury suits.
Thomas is licensed in Texas and Louisiana. During law school, Thomas served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Brian A. Jackson of the US District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.
